Willow Moon are 100% natural remedy enthusiasts. If you read out last blog, we talked a lot about how wonderfu
l it is that in recent years the cosmetics industry has taken a more environmentally friendly, ethical and natural turn, which is proving to be more effective and kinder on people’s skin. We advocate this change and the products we are talking about in this blog are at the absolute top of their game for satisfying those three cosmetics goals. I can almost guarantee even the biggest health geeks going will be sick of hearing the word ‘natural’ by the end of this blog, but it literally can’t be helped when writing about these products. Coconut King have a range of
Natural, vegan body butters
Natural, vegan lip balms
Natural, vegan moisturiser
Natural vegan tattoo aftercare –
LAVENDER MOISTURISER
After trying this product, I love it. It is genuinely so effective on dry skin without feeling greasy or claggy. Plus, it sinks in very quickly and a little goes a long way. Very few lavender scented products smell like fresh lavender but the coconut king bestselling ‘lavender moisturiser’ really does smell genuine. After bathing on a night, it’s the perfect essential oil to calm and relax you and send you off to sleep. I can use it on my hair, face and body which makes your night time routine a whole lot easier. Our favourite is the Lavender moisturiser but Coconut King have picked a range of essential oils that makes each product with their identical skin care qualities, all have unique scents and different aromatherapy benefits. We have testers available in Willow Moon to sample. There is also a fragrance free, addition which has been recommended as the perfect TATTOO AFTERCARE, to speed up healing and be gentle but effective.
Anyway, the first impressions of the products are very good but, that’s the same with a lot of products. The thing that makes coconut king something to scream about is the blend of powerful ingredients. This is not the giant list of obscure chemicals you find on the back of a lot of cosmetics. In fact there are very few ingredients in these products, just 5 reliable and effective natural ingredients…
EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL -
Everybody is becoming obsessed with Coconut oil. I even saw a viral tweet during the USA presidential election simply saying “coconut oil for president’. Coconut oil is an effective moisturiser but also has natural antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be used to treat acne, psoriasis, eczema, fungal and other minor skin infections and even speed up the healing process of wounds and help prevent scaring. If you use it daily, it works in the long run as an antiaging product and protects you against the sun or helps immediate sun damage. It even goes on your nails and cuticles to make them strong and healthy, and helps repair damaged hair.
UNREFINED SHEA BUTTER -
Like coconut oil, shea butter goes way back in history (we are talking thousands of years) and is on record as one of the oldest of nature’s gifts to cosmetics. I learnt from the coconut king website itself that shear butter was used by Ancient Egyptians, to protect their hair and skin from the harsh sun and hot dry winds of the African deserts and Savannah. They used it because it could sooth the pain of sunburns but also contains anti-sun properties to prevent UV damage. It is an incredible moisturiser, with powerful healing properties mainly because it contains the same moisturisers produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin, essentially giving you more of what your own body is prescribing. It is packed with Vitamin A which is important for improving many skin conditions including dermatitis, eczema and just plain old wrinkles and blemishes.
CARNAUBA WAX -
Carnauba wax also called Brazil wax and palm wax, is a wax of the leaves of the exotic palm plant Copernicia prunifera. Coconut King uses small amounts of Carnauba because of this ingredients hypoallergic and emollient properties which is essentially just used to thicken the products. However, when so many cosmetics are bulked out with fillers and random chemicals to thicken them, it’s nice to have a non-harmful replacement.
HEMP OIL
Hemp oil or hempseed oil is obtained by pressing hemp seeds. It is cold pressed and unrefined so not to lose any of its goodness. The hemp oil is moisturising because it contains several fatty acids which, I promise you, are very healthy for your skin. They nourish and moisturise enough to give your skin firmness and fill out wrinkles. It’s not only naturally antiaging, but prevents skin disorders like psoriasis, eczema, acne and dry skin.
GOLDEN JOJOBA OIL
Jojoba oil is the vegetable oil produced from the liquid in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis…basically a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Basically, this oil closely resembles ‘sebum’, a waxy substance produced by our skin glands to condition skin, so once again an ingredient that mimics in higher dosages what our own bodies were suggesting in the first place.
However, it also treats ache because it is has strong antibacterial, a thin and therefore deeply penetrating formula and dissolves the sebum deposits and help dislodge the comedone… which is a fancy way of saying clearing out the blockage that causes spots and helps control bacterial growth in the hair follicles all over our bodies. Finally, it is, yet again, an anti-inflammatory agent, which sooth irritation. It also contain vitamin A and E in the oil. This ingredients results, resemble the same as the classic ‘Tea Tree Oil’ which is effective but is known to have some toxins due to high concentration… and you won’t find any of that in jojoba oil.
All in all, we are really chuffed with the Coconut King range and would highly recommend it for all skin conditions and especially as a tattoo aftercare.
