Lush vs Bomb Cosmetics

Okay, so this blog is definitely not here to be throwing any shade at Lush Cosmetics. If anything, it celebrates it. There is no denying that they sell high standard products, that are natural, effective, cruelty free and environmentally friendly. What more could you want? But there is no denying that it is an expensive brand, and there are not many local stores unless you live in the heart of a large town or city. Plus, there are other brands that hold the same strong values and high standards that Lush do, that just haven’t taken the lime light. The intention of this article is to perhaps convince people it is 100% worth converting to your local Bomb Cosmetics supplier.

The evolution of cosmetics

Lush was a bombshell breakthrough for cosmetics. It was founded in 1995 in Poole, a town on the southern coast of England and grew slowly but surely into a niche, hippie-friendly brand of natural remedies... pretty low key. In fact, it only became a major mainstream contender recently because of a huge change in attitude towards cosmetics…

Over the last century cosmetics have been gradually spiralling out of control. Quality was becoming rated by a products concentration and complicated scientific formula, hatched in a lab and then packaged as flamboyantly as possible. Everybody was falling for the same consumer trap, which is easy to understand when as a society we are constantly told that beauty holds very specific requirements and that “this product will make you ‘pretty’”. In truth, using harsh chemicals was probably having the reverse effect. But it’s not all doom and gloom. In the last 5 years especially, people are starting to really take self-love seriously and cosmetics are becoming less about improving yourself and more about looking after yourself. And despite being surrounded by science and technology people have realised that natural remedies are the answer to truly looking after yourself, inside and out! Now the more natural, organic and chemical free a product is the more popular, which is amazing! And with that breakthrough came the sudden realisation of what the cosmetics industry was doing to the planet and how inhumane animal testing was. Now consumers are really looking out for cruelty free and environmentally friendly products. So, all in all, many cosmetics companies have really raised their game

in the last few years, but we are not 100% there yet with weaning the public off the chemicals and onto the natural remedies. Lush has been at the forefront of this bath tub revolution, as one of the leading suppliers of this natural new wave, so yes, good for you Lush Cosmetics, you always stood for the best quality in every sense of the word!

But...

What pains me is that everything I’ve been babbling about is not really that current anymore. There are multiple cosmetic companies that have been taking this stance for years and Lush is not the only brand of this standard. We are Big fans of Bomb Cosmetics here at Willow Moon and believe that they are a more affordable and offer a larger range of products, sourced from the same moral and ethical background. We can’t help but all admit that Lush is expensive, and though you “pay for the quality”, we feel like the quality is still there from bomb cosmetics but without the shock factor when you reach the till. With all this, and the fact that you can find local suppliers of Bomb Cosmetics on your doorstep, we feel like Bomb is the next generation of luxury cosmetics. I suppose we should provide some facts to back our theory…

WHY CHOOSE BOMB COSMETICS

Here is a list of reasons to support this theory:

Cruelty free:

Bomb Cosmetics NEVER HAS and NEVER WILL test on animals

They do not employ a third party to test on animals

They refuse to supply to any country that requires animal testing to be done by law

All products are vegetarian, and there is a large range of Vegan products which are marked on the site and on the packaging

Essential Oils:

Essential oils are found in each and every product

They are solely extracted from plants flowers and fruit

They do NOT use microbeads

Bomb cosmetics don’t compromise. Whereas some companies will focus on one selling point of a product, such as it’s relaxing aroma, Bomb will

provide both a beautiful scent combined with, soothing skincare, and moisturizing essential oils.-

Environmentally Friendly:

Bomb cosmetics use recycled materials in their packaging, wherever possible

As a company, they have a strict system of recycling everything they can

They don’t waste money, or the recourses of the planet on unnecessary packaging

The cardboard that is used as packaging for their Gift Packs and all outer shipping cartons are made from a minimum of 70% recycled cardboard.

The egg trays used for Bath Melts are 100% post-consumer recycled card.

They shred their waste cardboard that would otherwise be disposed of to be used as packaging fillers when packing orders for retailers.

The multi-coloured packing peanuts which are made from starch and are 100% compost-able.

It feels like with everything else going on as a brand, I’m forgetting to mention that these are simply beautiful products. The bath bombs are adorable, so kind on the skin, and always leave you feeling moisturised and smelling amazing. Plus, they make such great gift sets, whether you choose a pre-packaged gift box or your own choices to box together. You can pick your own little pamper aesthetic, such as a colour, ‘floral’ or ‘sweeties’ etc. as there are so many products that look adorable together to mix and match. Bomb Cosmetics offer a much bigger range of bath bombs than Lush and other cosmetic brands, so there really is something for everybody, whether you want a rose embellished pastel Blaster, or a Toucan topped colour bomb. But it’s not just the bath bombs, Bomb has a beautiful range of soaps that are just gorgeous in both smell and design and there is a generous tub of scrub or butter for every skin type.

We have totally fallen in love with these amazing Bomb Cosmetics products and feel that though Lush is truly fabulous, Bomb Cosmetics is more than just

catching up; it is overtaking…
